HomeThank you for stopping by and checking out The Linux Freak's Guide to GNU/Linux System Security. Development of this guide began on December 1, 2007. This guide is intended to give GNU/Linux systems administrators the information they need to successfully secure Internet connected computer systems running the GNU/Linux operating system. It is still a work in progress. The latest version can always be found at: http://linuxfreak.us/ Computer security is a complex problem that cannot be easily solved by installing a particular software package, running a script or following a single guide. This guide is intended as a starting point, not a final solution. You should seek out other sources of information in addition to this guide. Also bare in mind that one person's security requirements may not be the same as another person's security requirements. This documentation will present many options, some of which may conflict with one another. Ultimately, you are the who needs to decide if a particular solution suits your needs. This documentation was written and tested with gNewSense DeltaH. Some techniques and solutions presented here will apply to other GNU/Linux distributions as well, some will not. Again, it is up to you to decide if a particular solution suits your needs. |
